Smoking the occasional cigar?
Cigars are generally bigger, sometimes containing as much tobacco as an entire pack of cigarettes. The tobacco leaves used to make cigars are aged and fermented, which causes cigar tobacco to have a different taste and smell than cigarette tobacco.
Because smoke from cigars and cigarettes contains the same harmful toxins and carcinogens, the differences in health risks are related to the differences in daily use and level of inhalation.

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) And Smoking
Several epidemiological studies have reported a relationship between maternal cigarette smoking and SIDS.
Of the various risk factors for SIDS, maternal smoking is one of the most predictive. Decreased ventilatory response to hypoxia is thought to be part of the pathophysiology of SIDS. Recent studies in neonatal lambs have shown that nicotine attenuated the ventilatory response to hypoxia21 and have led to the speculation that SIDS is related to the effects of nicotine on the central control of breathing.

The “wrap” method
A program of this type requires a time and financial commitment that may be difficult or unnecessary for some people. On the other hand, some smokers find that the financial commitment is an added incentive to quit.
A number of government and voluntary health agencies offer free or nominally priced self-help materials for smokers who want to quit on their own. (See box, “Smoking Cessation Resources.”) The American Cancer Society and the American Lung Association run relatively inexpensive smokingcessation programs, as do the Seventh Day Adventists and some hospitals. At the same time that they introduce workplace no-smoking policies, many employers are offering such programs as well.

Help is available
Do not forget, tobacco addiction is both mental and physical. For most folk, the perfect way to quit will be several combination of drugs, a technique to switch personal habits, and emotional support. The next sections describe these tools plus how they may perhaps be helpful to you.
Facilitate with the mental element of addiction
Some people are ready to quit on their own, without the assistance of others or the utilization of medicines. But for many smokers, it may be troublesome to interrupt the social and emotional ties to smoking while getting over nicotine withdrawal symptoms at the identical time. Fortunately, there are numerous sources of support out there - each formal plus informal.
